PROGRAM OVERVIEW This session will analyze the 2024 Medicare Advantage and Part D Final Rule. Presenters will outline the fundamental changes affecting patients and health care providers, including utilization management and marketing requirements, the star ratings program, and health equity. The session will also focus on changes to the prior-authorization process, highlighting the new continuity of care requirements and reduced disruptions for beneficiaries. Speakers will present several examples of how the final rule aims to increase accountability for Medicare Advantage plans and give patients and health care providers more tools and leverage for ensuring consistent access to care. Participants will analyze the final rule and apply concepts to improve coverage and care access. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Analyze the 2024 Medicare Advantage and Part D Final Rule. These representations often involve coordination with state licensing boards, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other governmental entities. Cownie has experience representing clients in Certificate of Need related matters, as well as in negotiations with Iowa Professional Boards. Additionally, her transactional practice spans contracting, joint ventures, mergers, and acquisitions. Seamus Taylor is an associate attorney in Dorsey & Whitney LLP's health care transactions and regulations practice group in Des Moines. He regularly advises providers from across the health care industry, including hospitals and health systems, pharmacies, provider groups, and vendors.
