Taking Care of Board Business: A Plan for Successful Board Succession

PROGRAM OVERVIEW 
This virtual session will cover the critical realm of board succession planning, a strategic process ensuring the seamless governance leadership transition. The session will also help participants understand the strategic nuances of board succession planning and equip them with practical tools and insights essential for effective implementation to ensure boards are strategically prepared for success in guiding the organization.   


LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

  • Discuss the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes of successful board members. 
  • Identify the strategic importance of board succession planning. 
  • Outline the practical tools for seamless succession planning. 

 
INTENDED AUDIENCE 

  • Health care trustees. 
  • Leaders who work with hospital trustees.

 

SPEAKER 
Tracy Warner is an experienced health care executive and governance subject matter expert with knowledge gained from over 30 years in association and hospital leadership roles. Warner is the founder and CEO of Board Business. This consulting firm guides rural hospital board leadership to create efficient and effective governance processes, resulting in more time for focused strategy discussions and optimal decision-making for organizational sustainability. In the last 20 years, she’s participated in more than 1,000 hospital board meetings. Warner learned about nonprofit governance from the ground up, and she’s seen and experienced practices that work well and some inefficient and unproductive processes.

  • Associate member organization rate – $125
  • IHA nonmember organization rate – $300
    *For registering multiple people from the same organization, Please complete one registration at the above rate and then subsequent registrations will be at the complimentary rate.

 

RECORDINGS POLICY 
IHA will provide recordings only to those who have registered for the program. 

 

CONTINUING EDUCATION 
IHA will award 1.0 hour of continuing board education in its Hospital Board Certification Program.
