Iowa Rehabilitation Managers Spring Conference gathers rehabilitation services professionals statewide to explore rehabilitation topics. She is an active athletic trainer, college instructor and manager of the athletic training program. Dr. Marcie Becker is a clinical assistant professor and director of clinical Education of physical therapy and rehabilitation science at the University of Iowa. She is a board-certified geriatric specialist. Throughout her 20-year career she has practiced physical therapy in acute inpatient rehabilitation units, home health and critical access hospitals. Becker currently serves acute care patients at the Iowa City VA Healthcare System. She is passionate about implementing both educational and scientific research to improve the standard of clinical practice. Recent presentations include the American Physical Therapy Association’s Educational Leadership Conference and the Combined Sections Meeting. Becker pursued her undergraduate and graduate degrees in exercise science and physical therapy at Creighton University. Karen Jonas is senior patient experience coach for CHI Health CUMC Bergan. Prior to that, she worked in talent development facilitating leadership development classes and coaching leaders and was the EAP coordinator providing employee assistance program services to internal staff as well as contracted companies. Jonas has a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College and a master’s degree in human development from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She recently received the Certified Patient Experience Professional designation. Dr. Kelly Sass is a clinical assistant professor and director of clinical education in the physical therapy and rehabilitation science department at the University of Iowa. She has worked in acute care, inpatient/outpatient rehab and a critical access hospital. Sass is active within the Academy of Physical Therapy Education and the National Consortium of Clinical Educators, including serving as the program chair for the Educational Leadership Conference, chair of the Clinical Education SIG Scholarship Committee and an elected member of two nomination committees. Her current research interests include evidence-based teaching and assessment practices and excellence in clinical education. Recent presentations include the American Physical Therapy Association’s Educational Leadership Conference and the Combined Sections Meeting. She attended the University of Iowa and earned a bachelor’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in physical therapy and a PhD in educational psychology. View full conference details.
