PROGRAM OVERVIEW 
This 2 ½-hour webinar will cover the basics for entering data into the National Health Care Safety Network. Topics include: 

  • Alerts and events, including catheter-associated urinary tract infection.
  • Annual surveys.  
  • Multidrug-resistant organism LabID events.  
  • Reporting plans.  
  • Summary data. 

This course applies to acute care and critical access hospitals. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES 
Discuss how the annual survey, monthly reporting plan, summary data, alerts and events interact. 
Identify the infection window period, date of event, present on admission and repeat infection timeframe. 
Outline the navigation of the network’s website. 

INTENDED AUDIENCE 
Clinical staff who work with hospital infection prevention. 
Infection prevention professionals.

Toni Foos, B.S.N., RN, CIC, is the infection prevention and clinical quality manager with the Colorado Hospital Association.
