Course Outline The academy is designed to equip hospital leaders on a leadership track with the skills and knowledge to engage in operational factors in their positions. The course dates are: July 12 at the Iowa Hospital Association, in Des Moines September 12 at the Veterans Affairs Health System of Central Iowa, in Des Moines November 13 at the Iowa Hospital Association (afternoon only session), in Des Moines November 14 at Broadlawns Medical Center, in Des Moines February 6, 2024 at ChildServe in Johnston Academy class size will be limited to 25 participants to maximize engagement and interaction. Curriculum • Complete a capstone project and present the results to other facilities. • Learn from and discuss issues with experienced health care leaders. • Tour diverse health care settings and hear about alternative models of health care delivery. • Meet routinely with program mentors to explore the topics presented and discuss how to use the lessons moving forward. • Understand the integration of health care information and leadership development. • Work with experts to improve public speaking and communication delivery. Academy information • Participants will have a mentor assigned to them from their facility, who will guide them through the Academy activities. • All participants will complete a capstone project as part of the Academy and will share results across the state at the end of the program. • A benefit of participation in the Advanced Leadership Academy is complementary registration at the 2023 IHA Summer Leadership Forum, the 2024 IHA Governance Forum, and the 2024 IHA Summer Leadership Forum. • Participants will have a formal graduation ceremony at the 2024 IHA Summer Leadership Forum. • Additional information is available at www.ihaonline.org/academy.
