Donation 101: It Starts With YOU Tuesday, July 28th 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. PROGRAM OVERVIEWThis webinar equips hospice professionals with a clear understanding of their role in the organ and tissue donation process and how to effectively partner with Iowa Donor Network. Participants will learn regulatory responsibilities, referral timing and eligibility for cardiac death donation, and the types of tissue that can be donated. The session also highlights the meaningful impact of donation and the comprehensive support provided to patients’ families throughout the process. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:Summarize your healthcare organization's regulatory responsibility related to the donation process.State when and how to make a referral to Iowa Donor Network and the importance of doing so.List the eligibility criteria for cardiac deaths to refer the patient to Iowa Donor Network.Explain which tissues can be donated for transplantation and how these gifts impact the recipients.Summarize Iowa Donor Network's role in supporting families during and after the donation process.SPEAKERS Madelyn Clark is a Partner Relations Coordinator at Iowa Donor Network, where she has been a dedicated team member for four years. In her role, she fosters relationships with healthcare partners, as well as supports the organization's mission to enhance the gift of organ and tissue donation across Iowa. She is a graduate from the University of Iowa and holds a dual degree in Psychology and English & Creative Writing. Her commitment to organ and tissue donation is deeply personal, inspired by her family’s experiences. Madelyn's grandfather, uncle, and brother have all been directly impacted by the life-saving work of organ donation, fueling her passion for advocating this vital cause. Steve Frantz, Partner Relations Coordinator at Iowa Donor Network, is deeply committed to our mission of Working Together to Transform lives Through the Gift of Organ and Tissue Donation. A graduate of the University of Iowa School of Fine Arts, Steve first found the calling to donation when in 2009 his dear friend’s daughter of nine years-old received an emergency liver transplant. His desire to be directly involved in donation advocacy finally came to fruition in 2022 with Iowa Donor Network. CONTINUING EDUCATIONNursing: IHA will provide a certificate of attendance on completion of the program evaluation and strongly encourages nurses to retain a program brochure as documentation of their participation.
