Most health care professionals enter the workforce with a deeply held desire to alleviate suffering. Unfortunately, the constant exposure to physical and emotional distress in patients and families can have a negative impact on those who long to help. This session will explore the causes and warning signs of compassion fatigue, creative prevention strategies and recovery resources. The session also will discuss the role of self-care, self-compassion and social support in cultivating physical and mental health for health care professionals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly altered the health care industry and nearly every other aspect of the economy and life. It has hit physicians particularly hard, affecting them financially, physically and emotionally. This session will explore how physicians have been affected by and are responding to COVID-19. The session will include original data from three national physician surveys conducted by Merritt Hawkins for The Physicians Foundation. Each survey addresses how the coronavirus has affected physicians, their practices and their patients.
This recording is on both the Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program and the Readmissions Reduction Program (RRP). The HAC analysis is intended to provide hospitals with a preview of the potential impact of the federal fiscal year Medicare inpatient HAC Reduction Programs based on publicly available data and program rules established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The RRP Analysis is intended to provide detailed performance information on the readmissions measures that are currently evaluated under the Medicare Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program and to provide hospitals with an in-depth review of actual performance.

IHA Medicare Payment Impact Modeling provides Iowa hospitals with impact analysis of Medicare payment policy changes. Each year, CMS makes a number of changes to how hospitals are reimbursed under the Medicare program through the regulatory process. The impact reports provide hospitals with quick and easy to understand analyses of proposed and final regulatory changes that assist hospitals in planning and preparing both operationally and financially. The IHA Salary Survey Program is a web-based tool that collects data on three surveys: the annual Salary Survey, Benefits Survey, and the Turnover Survey. The results allow a hospital to compare their data with other hospitals in Iowa, statewide, within specific geographical regions, by Medicare payment classification and create custom peer groups. A hospital can also run their own salary and benefit reports on demand through the Salary Survey Program.
There are currently several class action settlements spanning a few categories from which your organization may be eligible to recover significant proceeds including the BCBS Subscriber Settlement and the Payment Card Interchange Fee Settlement (Visa/MC).
